Rules making in the Criminal Procedure Code, 1898

The KP Judicial Academy has been supporting the Peshawar High Court in exercising its rules making power under section 554 (2) (c) of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1898 (CRPC).

Earlier in 2017, the Academy proposed certain case management rules in the CrPC. In the first phase, a copy of the draft of those rules was uploaded on our website. The draft was revised (and then posted on the website) in light of certain comments posted by members of the legal and judicial fraternity.  In the second phase, the Academy organized a national level workshop on 27 March 2018 (Report). The earlier draft has now been removed from our website. Keeping in view the recommendations of the workshop, the draft rules have been revised once again. This marks the third phase of the rules making process. In addition, the Peshawar High Court has also proposed certain amendments in the Criminal Procedure Code, 1898 and in the Qanun-e-Shahadat Order, 1984. The following documents are now available on our website:

1.       The latest revised draft criminal case management rules

2.       The latest revised draft Criminal Case Management Rules (After recommendations of Workshop on March 27, 2018)

3.       The draft of the proposed amendments in the Criminal Procedure Code, 1898, and

4.       The draft of the proposed amendments in the Qanun-e-Shahadat Order, 1984.

The Academy intends to conduct another national level workshop on the subject. The Academy invites comments and views of all, particularly those who participated in the earlier workshop. Please share your comments and views in the box below.
