JUSTICE NASIR UL MULK
it is a distinct honor to welcome our resource person today, a figure who stands at the apex of Pakistan’s legal and political history. Justice Nasirul Mulk is a distinguished jurist and statesman who has held the two highest offices in the country: he served as the 22nd Chief Justice of Pakistan (2014–2015) and subsequently as the 7th Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan (2018).
His journey began in Swat and led him to become a Barrister-at-Law from the Inner Temple in England. Before his elevation to the bench, he was a dedicated academic, serving as a Professor of Law at Peshawar University and a visiting scholar at the Pakistan Administrative Staff College. As a teacher, he was renowned for his complete command of the subject and his preparation—a trait he carried onto the bench.
Throughout his judicial career, including his tenure as Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court and the Supreme Court, he was known for a strict 'textualist' approach to law, prioritizing human rights and non-discrimination. Notably, he was among the judges who refused to take the oath under the PCO in 2007, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to constitutional supremacy.
Please join me in welcoming a man of integrity, a former educator, and a leader of the nation, Justice Nasirul Mulk."
