KPJA Concludes 3-Day Training on Judicial Assertiveness & Civil Case Management (3-5 September, 2025)

Peshawar, September 5, 2025 – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA) successfully concluded a 3-day training on Judicial Assertiveness and Civil Case Management for Additional District & Sessions Judges (AD&SJs), held from 3rd to 5th September 2025 at the Academy in Peshawar.
The program was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice S.M. Attique Shah, Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court and Chairman KPJA, who stressed judicial assertiveness as a vital tool for effective case management and timely dispensation of justice. He also held an interactive discussion with participants. Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General KPJA, delivered the welcome address.
Over three days, the training featured lectures and interactive discussions by senior judges and faculty members.
·         Day 1: DG KPJA Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari delivered a session on Judicial Assertiveness with reference to the Contempt of Court Ordinance, while Dean Faculty Mr. Ahmed Iftikhar spoke on Case Management Rules, focusing on pre-trial and trial procedures.
·         Day 2: Sessions covered Pre-trial Scrutiny (jurisdiction, valuation, limitation) by Mr. Zaeem Ahmed, ADJ Swabi; Summary Judgment by Mr. Ahmed Iftikhar; Summary Procedure under Order XXXVII CPC by Mr. Tahir Aurangzeb, ADJ Swat; and Civil Appeal & Revision by Ms. Faryal Zia Mufti, Sr. Director Admin KPJA.
·         Day 3: The final day began with feedback, followed by Barrister Isfandyar Ali Khan on Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR), and Mr. Kalim Arshad Khan, DSJ / Sr. Director Admin FJA, on post-trial case management including decree, litigation costs, compensatory costs, and execution.
The training concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony chaired by Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, DG KPJA. Also present were Mr. Ahmed Iftikhar, Dean Faculty, Ms. Faryal Zia Mufti, Sr. Director Admin, and Ms. Hina Khan, Director Instructions. Certificates were awarded to all participants.
The training enhanced the capacity of AD&SJs in applying Civil Procedure Rules, 2018, strengthening judicial assertiveness, and promoting ADR, thereby reinforcing KPJA’s mission of professionalism, excellence, and diversity in judicial education.
