Four-Week Leadership & Management Training for Senior Civil Judges Concludes at KPJA (July 26, 2025)

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA) successfully concluded its four-week Post-Promotion Statutory Training on Leadership and Management for Senior Civil Judges, Judicial Magistrates, and Aa’la Illaqa Qazis, held from June 30 to July 26, 2025, at the Academy’s premises in Peshawar. This intensive program was designed to enhance the leadership, judicial, and administrative capacity of mid-career judicial officers who hold pivotal supervisory roles in the justice system.
The training was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice S.M. Attique Shah, Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court and Chairman KPJA. In his opening address, he emphasized the strategic importance of structured judicial training in ensuring timely and quality justice. Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General KPJA, welcomed the participants and underlined the Academy’s ongoing commitment to cultivating professionalism and institutional excellence across the judiciary.
The course was developed under the supervision of Ms. Faryal Zia Mufti, Director Instructions-II, and finalized by Mr. Zia ur Rehman, Dean Faculty KPJA. The curriculum was tailored to the evolving roles of Senior Civil Judges and covered wide-ranging areas such as public financial management, judicial accounts, procurement rules, human resource policies, performance evaluations, disciplinary proceedings, and technology integration. Cross-cutting themes included gender-responsive practices, emotional intelligence, environmental justice, and communication skills.
Judicial luminaries and domain experts, including sitting judges of the Peshawar High Court, led the sessions. Notable contributors included Justice Ijaz Anwar, Justice Naeem Anwar, Justice Sahibzada Asad Ullah, and Justice Farah Jamshed. Scholars from IM Sciences, University of Peshawar, and public sector professionals also lent their expertise. A key highlight of the program was a three-day exposure visit to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), Lahore, where participants explored modern forensic tools and procedures.
The final day of training began with an insightful session on Sentencing Guidelines under the KP Sentencing Act 2021, delivered by Justice Farah Jamshed. This was followed by a post-training assessment to evaluate the participants' learning outcomes.
The concluding ceremony was a significant and dignified occasion, graced by Justice Ijaz Anwar, Senior Puisne Judge and Vice Chairman KPJA, as well as Justice Faheem Wali and Justice Muhammad Naeem Anwar, Hon’ble Judges of the Peshawar High Court. Director General KPJA, Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, welcomed the honorable guests. On behalf of the trainees, Mr. Riaz Aslam Daavi, Class Representative, shared heartfelt reflections on the learning experience and the camaraderie built during the course.
The ceremony concluded with certificate distribution, marking the successful completion of the training. The event reflected KPJA’s unwavering dedication to building a modern, responsive, and ethical judiciary. The participants, now enriched with broader perspectives and refined skills, return to their respective stations equipped to serve with greater confidence, competence, and judicial foresight.
