The Rule of Law Programme delegation from UNDP Pakistan and the Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy on 11 September 2025.
The delegation included senior officials from UNDP and the European Union, among them Dr. Samuel Rizk, UNDP Resident Representative; Mr. Kaiser Ishaque, Assistant Resident Representative; Ms. Shahzada Ahmad, Rule of Law Programme Manager; Ms. Úna Kelly, First Secretary (Rule of Law); Mr. Jeroen Willems, Head of Cooperation; Dr. Sébastien Lorion, Team Leader for Governance and Human Capital Development; Ms. Barbara Riksen, Team Leader for Rural Development and Economic Cooperation; and Mr. Sohail Azam, Programme Manager for Energy and Blending.
The visitors were warmly welcomed by Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General KPJA. Presentations by Ms. Faryal Zia Mufti, Senior Director Administration, and Mr. Ahmed Iftikhar, Dean Faculty, highlighted the Academy’s contributions to the rule of law, justice sector capacity building, and future collaboration in areas such as legislative reforms, mediation, judicial training, and the use of technology for justice delivery.
The visit reaffirmed KPJA’s role as a hub of judicial learning and reform and underscored the importance of continued collaboration with UNDP and EU partners in strengthening Pakistan’s justice sector.
