Training Workshop for Judges on Trafficking in Persons & Smuggling of Migrants April 25–26, 2025

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA), in collaboration with UNODC Pakistan, has launched a series of three specialized training workshops focused on Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM). These workshops are scheduled for April 25–26, April 29–30, and May 2–3, 2025.
The initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of judges to effectively adjudicate TIP and SOM cases by enhancing their understanding of both national and international legal frameworks. The training covers recent legislative amendments, the use of financial and digital evidence, and the importance of a victim-centered, rights-based approach to justice.
Director General KPJA, Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, welcomed the participants during the opening ceremony. The academic sessions began with Mr. Waqar Haider Awan discussing international legal frameworks, including the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, its supplementary protocols, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, human rights declarations, and Pakistan’s legal response involving money laundering and mutual legal assistance.
The workshop concluded with a ceremony led by Mr. Aurangzeb, Station Director, KPJA, who commended the participants and awarded certificates in recognition of their active engagement and commitment.
