The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA) hosted a Stakeholders’ Consultation Meeting convened by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with UN Women to deliberate on the revision of the Women Empowerment Policy (2026–2030). The consultation aimed to gather expert input from key institutions to ensure a more inclusive, responsive, and effective provincial policy.
The session formally opened with welcome remarks by Ms. Hina Khan, Senior Director (Research & Publications) / Acting Director General, KPJA, who highlighted the Academy’s continued commitment to supporting gender-responsive governance and evidence-based policymaking.
The consultation brought together representatives from a broad range of justice sector and governance institutions, including the Peshawar High Court, KP Judicial Academy, Reclamation & Probation Department, Prisons Department, Home & Tribal Affairs Department, Police, Prosecution Department, KP Bar Council, and the Office of the Ombudsperson for Protection of Women against Harassment at the Workplace.
Participants engaged in thematic group discussions focused on refining the Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the revised policy, followed by a dedicated review of its legal and institutional components. Ms. Umm-e-Kalsoom from UN Women facilitated and guided the deliberations. Ms. Ayesha Bano Ex MPA/Technocrat Member Subcommittee WEP Women Commission wrap up the Session with her closing remarks.
Stakeholders shared recommendations, identified institutional gaps, and emphasized the need to strengthen legal safeguards, improve service delivery mechanisms, and enhance cross-sector coordination for meaningful progress in women’s empowerment across the province.
KPJA reaffirmed its commitment to fostering professional dialogue and supporting initiatives that advance gender equality, legal reforms, and inclusive policy development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
