Peshawar: The Pre-Service Training for Civil Judges-cum-Judicial Magistrates / Illaqa Qazis (2026) concluded at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy after the successful completion of an eight-week intensive training program attended by 12 newly appointed Civil Judges.
The program was designed to strengthen the professional, legal, and administrative capacity of newly inducted judicial officers through a balanced combination of academic sessions, practical exercises, digital training, exposure visits, and research activities.
Throughout the training, participants attended a wide range of sessions covering substantive and procedural laws, appreciation of evidence, criminal and civil trial management, land and revenue laws, ADR mechanisms, and judicial ethics. Specialized modules were also conducted on judgment writing, case management, sentencing principles, supervision of court staff, and judicial conduct, delivered by senior judges, legal experts, and experienced practitioners.
In addition to legal subjects, the program emphasized modern judicial skills and emerging technologies. Participants received hands-on training in ICT tools including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and digital document management, along with sessions on Generative Artificial Intelligence in courts, digital evidence, and e-learning tools. Practical exercises, mock trials, study circles, and group presentations were incorporated to enhance analytical and decision-making skills.
The training also included exposure visits and interaction with institutions relevant to the justice system, enabling participants to gain practical insight into forensic processes, medico-legal evidence, and court administration. Sessions on communication skills, professional networking, time management, wellbeing, and personality development were also conducted to promote holistic professional development.
As part of the evaluation process, participants completed research assignments, presentations, and a post-training online assessment conducted through the Academy’s Learning Management System (LMS). The assessment included MCQ-based and a practical examination of ICT tools, particularly MS Word, administered jointly by the Faculty and IT Wing of the Academy.
The training concluded with a formal ceremony held at the Academy. The event was graced by the Honourable Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, S.M. Attique Shah, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the responsibility of judicial officers to uphold the rule of law, integrity, and fairness, and encouraged the newly trained judges to apply their knowledge and skills in ensuring effective and timely dispensation of justice.
Earlier, the Director General of the Academy, Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, delivered the concluding address, highlighting the objectives of the training program and appreciating the dedication shown by the participants throughout the eight-week course.
On behalf of the participants, Class Representative Ms. Zara Ishtiaq Siddiqui shared her remarks and expressed gratitude to the Academy for organizing a comprehensive training program. She appreciated the quality of academic sessions, practical learning opportunities, exposure visits, facilities, and the hospitality extended by the faculty and staff of the Academy.
At the end of the ceremony, certificates were conferred upon the participants in recognition of their successful completion of the training program.
The program reflects the continued commitment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy to strengthen judicial capacity and promote professional excellence within the justice sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
