KPJA Hosts Experience-Sharing Session for Pro Bono Lawyers and Justice Sector Stakeholders (June 3, 2026)
PESHAWAR (June 3, 2026): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA), in collaboration with Mera Ghar–Noor Education Trust (NET), with support from the Government of Norway, organized an experience-sharing and case review session for pro bono lawyers and justice sector stakeholders at the Academy.
The event brought together pro bono lawyers, police officials, public prosecutors, and staff of Gender and Inheritance Courts to reflect on challenges encountered while assisting survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and to identify practical measures for strengthening access to justice.
The inaugural session was chaired by Mr. Muhammad Shoaib, Senior Director Research & Publication, KPJA, who highlighted the importance of coordinated institutional responses in addressing GBV cases. Ms. Rukhshanda Naz, Managing Trustee of Mera Ghar-NET, welcomed participants and outlined the objectives of the programme.
An interactive experience-sharing and case review session followed, chaired and moderated by Ms. Hina Khan, Senior Director Administration, KPJA. Participants discussed issues and challenges faced by pro bono lawyers and other stakeholders while dealing with GBV survivors within the justice system, emphasizing the need for improved coordination and victim-centered approaches.
The concluding session focused on coordination and referral mechanisms, where participants engaged in group work and presentations to develop recommendations for enhancing institutional collaboration. The session concluded with a discussion on the way forward for strengthening support services and legal assistance for GBV survivors.
The programme formed part of the ongoing capacity-building initiative aimed at improving the justice sector’s response to gender-based violence through collaboration among courts, prosecution, police, and civil society organizations.
